About us
We are an independent member of The Arts Society which is based in UK. The Arts Society was formerly known as the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS). In 2017 it changed its name. As a member of NADFAS we, too, changed our name in 2017 to The Arts Society Nerja.
The Arts Society has over 360 societies throughout the UK and abroad, of which 13 are in Europe and 24 in Australia. Together they represent a worldwide membership of over 64,000.
The Arts Society Nerja is a thriving society with over 220 members.
Our primary aim is to further the enjoyment, knowledge and awareness of the Arts internationally, and to stimulate interest in the artistic heritage of Spain.

what we do
LECTURES
The season of activities runs from October to May. We offer 11 lectures, 7 of which are given by accredited The Arts Society lecturers from the UK and 4 by local lecturers. They cover a wide range of artistic, historical and cultural topics.
CULTURAL TOURS
We organize several art-related trips per season. Usually several one day trips, a 2 or 3 day trip and a 7 day trip in April.
For April 2027 we are organizing a trip to Nice, St Paul de Vence, Arles and Aix en Provence in the fotosteps of Chagall, Matisse, van Gogh, Frank Gehry and many others.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
We organize activities so members can meet each other over a meal or having coffee, for instance a Coffee Morning in November for New Members. This is followed by a talk in the Museo de Nerja which is open for free to all.
COMMUNITY PROJECTS
We aim to support Art projects especially for children using art as a tool to stimulate personal development. Read about it on our charity page.
ART EXHIBITION
Every few years we organize an Art Exhibition for our members. Look out for the new date between January and March 2027! It will be in 2 venues in Nerja.
