Programme:
Visiting Nice, St Paul de Vence, Arles, and Aix en Provence, we will follow in the footsteps of great artists like:
Chagall, who lived in St Paul de Vence and whose Museum opened in Nice while he was still alive, the first French national museum for a living artist,
Matisse, who lived on the Côte d’Azur nearly all his life, the Mediterranean light transformed his art and many of his works were inspired by Nice,
van Gogh who lived in Arles for 15 months in the Yellow House and produced over 200 paintings here, where he cut off his ear and we will visit the psychiatric hospital he stayed at afterwards in St Remy and painted his famous Starry Night.
Frank Gehry, who built an amazing museum for contemporary art in Arles inspired by one of van Gogh´s paintings.

We will visit amazing art in the Chagall Museum and the Matisse Museum in Nice, the LUMA contemporary art museum in Arles, but also 2 stunning private art collections, one of which is the Maeght Foundation in St Paul de Vence, one of the most important modern art collections in Europe of paintings, drawings, 20thc sculptures in a museum and sculpture garden with works by Chagall, Miró, Giacometti, Hepworth etc. The foundation is famous for its collection but also for the building, designed by the Spanish architect Josep Lluis Sert. Art, architecture and Mediterranean landscape are integrated together.
